Will a hunting dog get mixed signals if it goes to obedience school?

What kind of mixed signals? Behind any kind of training, there is the underlying quality of paying attention to your owner and learning to perform as they want and expect you to. I would think obedience training would only help to deepen that relationship between dog and owner. Will a hunting dog get mixed signals if it goes to obedience school?
Your dog \ will not get confused, in fact, it will help in the field. You'll have a reliable recall ';come'; command, wait, stay, heel, down, sit.

People say that about everything. You'll hear people who show in the breed ring, not to do obedience, because the dog will start sitting int he breed ring. You'll hear agility people say, don't do obedience, your dog will learn to work only on one side. All not true. Dogs are intelligent creatures. Will a hunting dog get mixed signals if it goes to obedience school?
I can't see how a hunting dog could be trained properly other than by starting with basic obedience, and I fear I must misunderstand something in your question, because I don't get how obedience training would translate into mixed signals.
Training a dog in hunting requires obedience so I'm not understanding how it would mean mixed signals. You can't very well a dog to be good as a hunting companion if it isn't listening can you?
Obedience school would be good for a hunting dog. Obedience trainning is good for any dog.
