good luck. i have yet to see a moral mushroom in ANY part of Illinois, much less the northern part. They are lying, hyprocritical, adulterous little thieves. There are a lot of discussion boards online where morel mushroom hunters report their finds. Morels will grow in about any temperate climate. Best advice I can give you is go hunting in a tree grove right after a good rain. They seem to congregate mostly around elms and apple trees.
i picked 5 lbs in lasalle county 5/6/07. loamy soil and dead elms are good signs. also depressions and waterways.





i also picked 2 lbs in northern will county, in Naperville 5/7. most were found on the western slope of hills running to the dupage river.
