My suggestion is to find a quality archery shop and ';pick their brains';, also contact your local or state fish %26amp; wildlife dept, ask for current rules %26amp; regulations for bow hunting, seasons are different everywhere and where to hunt etc, varies greatly YOU MUST LEARN about these, or fines will astonish you (jail time too!) DON'T listen to just anyone, get your info from correct sources. I would use a Hoyt Turbotec and hunt deer
I dont know how much you have to spend or how serious you want to be but I have really enjoyed my Matthews Swichback. It is one of the top of the line hunting bows. If you want something a little cheaper, you might want to check out Parker, or even Hoyt has a few bows that are reasonable. As far as begining hunting with it I am not familiar with the area but if you have wild hogs they are good to start out with or if you want to start off with something difficult you can try deer. You can also buy blunt tips for your arrows for small game such as rabbits. Have fun.
DO NOT LISTEN TO THESE PEOPLE. If you are just starting, turkey is the LAST thing you want to hunt. Turkey hunting with a bow is among the most challenging hunt in the USA.





You should hunt whitetailed deer. They are all over the south. Go to an archery store. DO NOT TRY TO DO THIS ONLINE. You need to be measured for draw length and think about draw weight. If you are just hunting whitetails and hogs, keep it 50-60lbs. Buy some GOLD TIP Expidition carbon arrows appropriate for your bow and draw length. Put a mechanical broadhead on it. That may not be very traditional, but it will help with accuracy until you improve.
