I told my buddy if you ever kill a deer with a bow you'll never go back to gun hunting.


He did his first year (with me) and now he is hooked

Bow hunting is the awsomest! there is nothing like killing your first deer with a bow! no joke! try it and youll never go back... hunting pigs with knifes are real fun to!
That's personal. It's like a choice between strawberry or vanilla. Do what you like. Consider small game. Sling shots are tough...I mean the real ones. The other type of sling shot isn't bad, but the real ones are more deadly.

besides bow i have heard of going hog hunting with a knife that seems pretty exciting...the dogs will corner it and then you do your thing...but if you go bow hunting and kill a deer with your bow....you feel like a sniper when rifle season rolls around

Bow hunting is the most intense and demanding forms of hunting.


Due to the fact you must be within 20-25 yds ( I would never release at a distance greater than 20-22 yds) of your target,you are forced to learn so much more about your intended prey.You must start hunting LONG before opening season....Learning as much about the intended animal species as you can,searching out the hunting area for sign and travel habits etc.....Bow hunting forces you to be a much better hunter than hunting with rifle.


And then there is learning about your equipment,practise and technique.It goes on and on.


It is never drudgery though.Even the practise is a great way to spend a few hours.


I currently use a rifle when hunting.I just do not have the time bow hunting requires.And I feel it would be unethical to botch a shot and cause a inhumane kill due to my lack of time devoted to practice.
