one dog can walk without a leash but is not trained to hunt but the other one no's what he is doing and will do anyting to get the kill back to me but will escape to get a rabbit, bird or anyother small gameIs it safe to take both my dogs hunting?
Thanks for asking these questions. You should get a couple of books on how to train dogs for hunting. It's not difficult, but could save your dogs' lives when it's done properly. Is it safe to take both my dogs hunting?
You didn't mention ages or breeds, however, in general, if you have hunting breeds and actively train your dogs to hunt (particularly if this breed was bred for this purpose originally) the inexperienced dog will learn from the experienced dog. Perhaps some of the best natural training. However, you should determine his reaction to gunfire and the freedom and excitement involved in a hunt. I would suggest a 30 foot lead until you determine these things. Good luck! Glad to see someone actually using their dogs for the purpose for which they were bred.
it sounds like they aren't fully trained yet. Do you know how they would react to a gunshot (if using a gun)?
