Contact states such as Alaska, Wyoming, Utah, etc. where hunting guides ply their trade. Each of these states has requirements for becoming a guide. They will tell you what the requirements are. Google ';hunting guide services'; and contact some of the guides and see what they can tell you.I need research on hunting guides, how to become one,and what they do?
there is a 3 video series put out by Phil Page, Rocky Mountain School, 406-834-3499, Dillon, Montana, that should show you all you need to know. buy the videos and go to a horse rental and practice, practice, practice. less than 10% of hunting guides are worth the money. they take you on an outragiously expensive horse ride. facts: outfitters must hunt in pre-determined drainages. if the elk/deer are not in the area outfitters cannot go to where the elk are. some areas have trophy antlers others have ';dinks';. if your outfitters area has poor genetics you are stuck with his dinks because he is not allowed to leave his area. if every hunter kills an elk in the outfitter's drainage the drainage would have no elk after the 4th 2 person party. if you %26amp; your friend hunt together the guide will try to get one of you an elk (and call it 100% success) and ';sunbathe'; (horseback ride in unproductive areas) the client until the hunt is over. so if you hire a guide never take along a companion because if he kills an elk your hunt is over and the horse rides begin.
