I don't have any links but I can give you the basics as I learned them. I too am a wisconsin deer hunter and I am an avid turkey hunter, however I am not a a ';veteran'; so you may want additional advice.

1) scope out the land ahead of time and decide if you are hunting in a blind or if you are going to locate and stalk the birds

2) if you decide to blind hunt set up your blind the day before and make sure you can get in easily without making any noise

3) try calling before setting up the blind even if it is before your legal time, if there is a bird very close by do not set up the blind, consider coming in the next day and sit close by the same spot

-one of the best places for a blind is the edge of a field where turkies gather escpecially this late in the season when the fields are green and grasshoppers are out

3) try slow soft purring calls before first light but also throw in some yelps, this may make the bird think another has flown down from the roost near by. It may also help you locate a tom still in the tree

4) try a variety of calls throughout the day including cackles, clucks, yelps and even a gobble call if you get desperate. Also try differnet types of calls together and face them in different directions, this can convince a bird a flock is near by

5) be as quiet and still as possible, a turkey is astronomically more sensitve than ANY dear, you simply cannot hunt the same way. If you are a confident shooter be prepared to take an offhanded shot rather than turn if the opportunity arises

6) for the best chance of getting a bird, be sitting in your spot at least 20min before legal time and sit until after the final bell. Once I started packing up my calls to head for another spot when I saw a tom not sixty yards away comming at me. I got him ten seconds later. He came in silent, not a crunch or a call. That was my first turkey. You never know when a bird is nearby, just keep that in mind when you want to leave. Still hunting is not a bad strategy for turkey hunting, in fact my dad used to ';run'; turkeys, meaning he would listen for a call and move quickly in that direction, stalking the last short distance. Choose whichever style best fits your land and skill.

7) Remeber to have fun and make sure to pick your shot, it is all to easy to accidentally hit the hen standing next to your prize tom with turkey load. It is easy to get tunnel vision remeber you are shooting shot not a slug.
