Recommended hunting gun for a 13 year old?

I want to ask for a hunting gun for christmass, what is the best gun for a 13 year old.Recommended hunting gun for a 13 year old?
ak 47 is the best .Recommended hunting gun for a 13 year old?
Go with .270, they don't kick and they can pick off targets upwards of 350 yards. Or you could go with a 7mm-08 which doesn't have much recoil either. I'm 12 and I personally shoot a 7.62x39mm Soviet. I have also shot a .270, 30-30, .300WSM, 30-06, and a .243. None of them had much recoil at all. the one I liked the best is the .300. I'm planning on getting one next hunting season. Theres really no limits to what you get because they all don't recoil much.
I always think a first gun should be a 22 or a single shot shotgun.

But as far as a centerfire goes

Many think the 243 is ok at best on deer. So why give that to a kid who is likely to make a few bad shots --- because they all do.

A 30-30, 270, or 308 would be a lot better if your son is big enough.

Also get a gun with a full size adult stock unless you can be sure you can get a full size stock later.

Mossberg, Savage/Stevens, and Howa all make good cheap rifles.
You didn't say big game or small game. I will assume you will be doing some of both, as I did when I was 13. I started out with squirrels and quickly moved to deer. My recommendation is Remington 870 12 guage. Make sure you get the one that allows the choke tubes to swapped out on the barrel. At 13 years old, I would shoot the 2-3/4'; shells, and as you get bigger you can step it up to the 3'; or 3-1/2'; shells. All of the folks suggesting rifles are assuming you will be only big game hunting. A shotgun is definitely they way to go for a versatile hunting gun. Good luck!
It all depends on what you are hunting. If you are deer hunting with dogs, I'd recommend a 20 gauge shotgun-this would work good for bird and turkey hunting too. If you are still hunting, out of a tree stand or ground blind, look at a nice 270 or 243 rifle. A 270 is going to kick more than a 243, but it has more stopping power than a 243. You might want to consider a nice Marlin 30-30 lever action too, as it is a reliable rifle. If you are comfortable with a 30-30 or a 270, go with one of those, as you can grow into those and will be able to use them for years to come. A 243 is nice and doesnt kick too awful bad, but as you get older and bigger, you will probably want a rifle with more stopping power than a 243. As far as brands go, Remington makes a fine shotgun, Mossberg aint too bad either. For rifles, check out Winchester, Marlin, and Ruger. Rossi makes a neat rifle called a Trifecta. It is a 3 barrel rifle that comes with three interchangeable barrels with a 243, 22lr, and 20 gauge shotgun. It comes with fiber-optic sights and a weaver-style scope base.
alaska has a lot of young hunters out here in the bush. at the age of 13, a lot of them go with a mini 14, 7.62X39 or a 30-06
For deer hunting.... go with a 25-06 you dont want a big rifle with alot of kick, the 25-06 is a good size and you should be able to handle it.
New England Firearms makes a Handi-Rifle. You can buy a youth model and you are able to send in the stock to have them fit a different caliber if you're not satified with the one you have. You can even have them send you a shotgun barrel. The basic rifle w/o the scope is $199.99.
Well if you want a good Multipurpose gun for Deer/Bear/Birds I would go with a 12-gauge Shotgun Chambered for 3'; or larger shells. You can shoot Buckshot for Deer and Bear and bird shot for birds and small game.

But if you want a rifle I would go with what that guy said right above me. That .243. Thats a really good gun. Don't bother with anything like a 30-06 like I saw someone say. Those are a good hunting gun but the have quite a bit of recoil. Trust me I have a 30-06 and every year I dread sighting it in. That gun kicks pretty hard. I've got a friend who is 240 lbs and hates shooting it after about 5 shots. 25-06 isn't bad. 7mm-80 isn't bad. Both of those have a flat trajectory meaning that you can really get out there at a distance say 150 - 300 yards. Thats quite a long shot. But if you want a good multipurpose rifle you can even go with a 30-30 which has good range and plenty of power to knock something down. Or even a .308. Both the 30-30 and .308 are great hunting rifles with open sights or even with a scope with the type of mount where you can still see under the scope into your open sights. These are more of a brush gun type.

My first gun with a 12-gauge break action gun. One shot nothing special. But I did shoot 3 deer and 5 baited bear with it using 000 Buckshot. Bunch of coyotes and ruffled grouse also!

Happy hunting.
Well you didnt supply alot of details. What kind of hunting are you looking at, big game? small game? Do your parents have a gun license. It really depends, add addtional details and i will give you a better answer
Good answers so far. I only think one thing was overlooked in the previous answer. Savage makes a fantastic .243 bolt...the model 110. I've owned two of these, with the synthetic stock and both were accurate enough to shoot the tacks out of targets at 100 yards with no problem. It's a great and inexpensive deer rifle for younger hunters.
get a .30-30 or if you can take the kick get a .308 it dont kick to hard but i dont know you weight
I suggest a rossi 243. You can pick one up for 200 bucks w/scope and an interchangeable 20 gauge barrel. Now you got 2 guns for the price of one. rifle and shotgun. My sisters 14 now and has been using hers for about 3 years. They are an awesome straight shooting gun that is perfect for beginners.
30-30 you can't go wrong, I've got my last three bucks with my savage 30-30 pump and none of them have gone farther than 30 yards. I think that you will outgrow a .243 too fast and you will not have as much knockdown power with the smaller bullet.
