depends on the level of malice and negligence. If honestly an accident, then you might get off. If you were being stupid and playing chicken or something like that, say your good byes now.
My dad shot my uncle years ago with birdshot in a similar fashion, and never faced any charges. There was never any harmful intent, nor any long-term repercussions of the incident.
I'd rather go hunting with Cheney than driving with Ted Kennedy.
